With an impressive ability to understand market conditions and exceptional local knowledge, Jeneen Binsted and Jane Hulme are acknowledged as one of the most successful teams in Rodney and the Matakana Coast. These Harcourts agents don’t just sell homes – they transform the lives of their clients by guiding them on their property journey, assisting them to procure their dream home. Whether a first time home buyer, lifestyle seeker or seasoned investor, Jeneen and Jane’s marketing strategies ensure a rewarding – and stress-free – outcome for all involved parties.

Jeneen and Jane come from a farming/lifestyle backgrounds. Jeneen has been a local realtor for over 20 years after an early career spanning nursing, the travel industry and tertiary lecturing in customer service. Having owned and renovated a treasured family villa, she has a keen interest in character homes and lifestyle properties. Jane commenced real estate three years ago after a highly successful career working for large corporates in IT sales and marketing. Together, they have strong synergies contributing to their enduring popularity amongst homeowners and investors.

Being a people oriented person, Jeneen had a smooth transition from nursing to real estate. “From the outside, the industry appears to be entirely about property, but real estate is primarily about people and families,” she explains.

Jeneen and Jane point out that when you are dealing with human emotions, you need to be calm and organised. “We feel it’s a privilege to be listening to – and understanding of – people’s requirements during what is usually an emotional and stressful time in their lives. Over the years, this process has helped us develop strong negotiating skills which we use to maximise value for our clients. Our greatest satisfaction is to match people with the right property. It is a job that gives us great joy.”

Buying and selling
Every industry has its ups and downs, and Jeneen has witnessed many such cycles during her two decades in real estate. Currently, she feels the biggest challenge is educating vendors that yesterday’s market has disappeared. “Right now we are helping buyers and vendors feel positive.”

For those planning to list their homes, Jeneen and Jane have the following advice: “First impressions count – present your property in the best way possible and make sure all maintenance is up to date. Staging can make a huge difference as it helps potential buyers visualise how they will live in their future home. Quality presentation ensures a premium price!”

As a buyer, they recommend taking the plunge as soon as you can. “Take the step, people buy and sell in every type of market, so have the confidence to become a property owner ssoner rather than wait. The ‘bottom of the market’ is only evident once it is passed!

Whether you are a buyer or seller, it goes without saying that a quality real estate agent can make a huge positive  difference. “Choose a salesperson who has strong market knowledge, has listening skills, and has the ability to provide professional and comprehensive service. Since you and your agent will be spending a lot of time together during the listing period, pick someone who is understanding, empathetic and easy to relate to.”

Local outlook
Over the past 40 years, Jeneen has observed how the region has changed over the years, becoming a magnet for people leaving the big city. “Jane and I are fortunate to live, work and play within Rodney and the Matakana Coast. We enjoy every day the benefits of the  ‘playground for Auckland’ and once people discover the area, they are motivated to move here. Motorway completions and residential subdivision expansion will ensure Warkworth, Matakana and the surrounding areas will remain high as a desirable place to live.”

Jeneen and Jane each own lifestyle blocks. Jane’s property is oriented towards horticulture, and she and husband David are known locally for producing remarkable table grapes. Jeneen loves her cattle and productive gardens. “As well as cooking, reading and travel, both of us enjoy beach walks and the beautiful coastal surrounds we are privileged to call home.”
